Founded in 1977, Hollyrock began as a small disc-jockey company with just two employees serving the New York City metropolitan area. Due to popular demand, the quality of events, and word-of-mouth chatter by 1987 we employed over 40 entertainers serving the entire East Coast including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

The origin story of Hollyrock Entertainment is really about a DJ and a good idea. Founder Allen Strauss saw an opportunity to innovate the DJ market with better presentation, professionalism, and quality. His first real request came from a kid who wanted a game show at his bar mitzvah, then someone in attendance wanted the show at their summer camp, after another request came from a school, and so the story goes.

In 1989, Hollyrock produced its first mobile TV game show party and in 1992 started touring with school game shows. Soon after Peter Shapiro joined the team to help Allen take Hollyrock to the next level. Peter is a law school graduate, but found that through Hollyrock he is able to make a positive impact on the world one generation at a time. To date, Allen, Peter, and the entire team at Hollyrock are proud to have entertained at over 18,000 shows in nearly 30 years.

Despite the immense success and rapid growth of Hollyrock, we make sure that every show is personalized for each client. There is a Hollyrock owner at every show, including school assemblies, game shows, PTA assemblies, camp shows, corporate events and private parties. No event is too big or too small, every event is simply about bringing smile and laughter with a good sprinkle of education all throughout.
